How to use the Barcode Generator

  1. 1

Choose the barcode type – Code 128 for SKUs, EAN-13 or UPC for retail products.

  2. 2

Type or paste your values, one per line, for bulk barcodes.

  3. 3

Download each barcode as PNG or SVG, or click Print all labels.

Which barcode type should I use?

  • Code 128 – encodes letters, numbers and symbols. Best for internal SKUs, warehouse labels and FNSKU-style stickers.
  • EAN-13 – the 13-digit retail barcode used in India and most of the world.
  • UPC-A – the 12-digit retail barcode used mainly in the US and Canada.
  • EAN-8 – a short version for small packs.
  • Code 39 – an older alphanumeric format used in some industries.
  • ITF-14 – for outer cartons and cases.

For EAN and UPC, the check digit is calculated automatically if you enter one digit less.

Important: retail barcodes need a GS1 number

This tool draws barcodes; it does not issue barcode numbers. To sell in retail stores or list branded products where a GTIN is required, you need EAN/UPC numbers licensed from GS1 (GS1 India in India). For internal inventory, Code 128 with your own SKUs is perfect – generate SKUs with our SKU generator.

Printing tips

  • Use SVG for the sharpest print at any size; PNG is exported at 3× resolution.
  • Keep the quiet zone (white margin) on both sides.
  • Print black bars on a white background for the most reliable scanning.
  • Test-scan a printed label with a phone scanner before printing in bulk.

Frequently asked questions

Is this barcode generator free?

Yes – free, unlimited and no sign-up. Barcodes are generated in your browser.

Can I make barcodes in bulk?

Yes. Paste up to 200 values, one per line, and every barcode is generated at once. Use Print all labels to print them together.

Do I need GS1 to use EAN-13 barcodes?

To use EAN-13 or UPC on products sold in retail or on marketplaces that need a GTIN, buy numbers from GS1. For internal stock labels, you can use Code 128 with your own codes.

What is the difference between EAN-13 and UPC?

EAN-13 has 13 digits and is used worldwide; UPC-A has 12 digits and is mainly used in North America. Most scanners read both.

Can I download the barcode as SVG?

Yes. Each barcode has PNG and SVG buttons. SVG is vector and stays sharp at any print size.

Why does my EAN barcode show an error?

EAN and UPC accept digits only. Enter 12 digits for EAN-13 (the 13th check digit is added automatically) or all 13 if you already have it.
