  2. 2

Add the number of orders and your gross margin before advertising.

  3. 3

Compare your ROAS with your break-even ROAS to see if the campaign is profitable.

ROAS and ACoS formulas

ROAS = Ad revenue ÷ Ad spend
ACoS % = Ad spend ÷ Ad revenue × 100
Break-even ROAS = 1 ÷ Gross margin
Profit after ads = Revenue × Margin − Ad spend

ROAS (return on ad spend) is used on Meta, Google and most ad platforms. ACoS (advertising cost of sales) is Amazon's version – it is simply the inverse of ROAS shown as a percentage. A 4x ROAS equals a 25% ACoS.

What is a good ROAS?

There is no universal good ROAS – it depends on your margin. If your gross margin before ads is 25%, your break-even ROAS is 4x: any ROAS below 4x loses money. With a 50% margin, 2x ROAS breaks even. That is why this calculator asks for margin – it turns a vanity number into a clear profit or loss.

Many brands accept a lower ROAS on new-customer campaigns because of repeat purchases, but you should know the number you are trading off. Find your real margin with the profit margin calculator.

How to improve ROAS and lower ACoS

  • Pause keywords and audiences whose ACoS is above your break-even ACoS.
  • Improve product images and titles to lift conversion rate – try the product image resizer and background remover.
  • Raise average order value with bundles and free-shipping thresholds.
  • Use negative keywords and exact match for your best converting search terms.

Frequently asked questions

How do I calculate ROAS?

Divide revenue from ads by ad spend. ₹80,000 revenue from ₹20,000 spend is a ROAS of 4 (often written 4x or 400%).

What is ACoS on Amazon?

ACoS is advertising cost of sales: ad spend divided by ad sales × 100. ₹2,000 spend for ₹10,000 sales is 20% ACoS. Lower is better.

What is break-even ROAS?

It is the ROAS at which ad profit is zero, calculated as 1 ÷ gross margin. With a 33% margin you need about 3x ROAS just to break even.

What is the difference between ACoS and TACoS?

ACoS divides ad spend by ad-attributed sales only. TACoS divides ad spend by total sales (ads + organic), showing how dependent your business is on advertising.

Is 2x ROAS good?

Only if your gross margin is above 50%. For most products with 25–40% margins, 2x ROAS loses money.

Is the ROAS calculator free?
